It would be great to be able to review every story and poem individually. They are very variable.
Anyone who spends time with Poe can’t help but warm to him. Two of the things I admire about him most are his intellectual discipline and his editorial rigour.
I don’t recommend reading all his stories one after the other but it’s very useful to have them all in one edition because there are a few really interesting ones that would never get published otherwise. There are some really quirky stories in here for you to find.
Dipping into this sometimes feels a bit like grave robbing.
