Immersed in a beautiful world

Today I don’t want to write a review. I have been reading so many reviews, I’ve had enough of them.
So today I just want to make a recommendation. The Drowning Girl by Caitlín R. Kiernan is an antidote to all the horror and nastiness in the world. It’s a beautiful story by a writer with a beautiful imagination.
It doesn’t really fit into any genre. It’s not for young adults, it’s too beautiful to be horror, too vivid to be fantasy, too sensual to be called erotic and too exciting to be called a thriller.
The author is very experienced but her style is incredibly fresh. She is steeped in horror and fantasy but her voice is uniquely her own. She is subtle and she is shocking. She overturns your expectations.
To be immersed in her world is a blessed relief.

Oh, please do. Plunge in and be refreshed. Better move the cat first, though.
